One of the great pleasures of drinking local produced sake is to imagine the scenery where the sake was born and raised.
When I encounter a sake I enjoy, the brewer becomes my hometown in my mind. Tohoku has many important spiritual hometowns.

おいしい水がわき出る彼の地で、蔵人さんたちが
我が子のように大切に醸した日本酒。
お酒が生まれ育った風景を想像しながら呑むのも地酒の楽しみ。
酔い酒に出会えたら、その蔵元さんが心の故郷になります。
みんなの大事な心の故郷、東北。
蔵人さんの魂がこもった日本酒を、復興を願い、一献大切に傾けます。

I would like to pray for those who died in the earthquake and express my heartfelt sympathy to everyone else who has been affected.
 I have been thinking what I can do as a sake lover.
A first step is drinking and appreciating the sake produced by these breweries more than before.

It is very important that we do not lose the Japanese craftsmanship which has been followed long time.

東日本大震災でお亡くなりになられた方に
心からご冥福をお祈りし、被災された方々には
お見舞いを申し上げます。

常日頃から日本酒を愛するものの一人として
「今、何ができるのか」をずっと考えてきました。
まず第一歩として、被災された蔵元の方々が心をこめて
醸したお酒をこれまで同様に……いやこれまで以上に愛し、
飲むことだと考えています。

連綿と続いてきた日本の匠の技をなくさないために、
一人ひとりの力を大きな力に変えていくことを胸に刻み、
日本酒のすばらしさを発信していく所存です。

In writing sake-related articles, I have had the privilege of tasting various wonderful sake from the Tohoku region.
The quality of the spring water and the craftsmanship in Tohoku is first class.

Recently, young, ambitious brewers are keen to enter a new era in Japanese sake culture and I admire their passion.

After the nightmare of the natural disaster, the story that brewers have started to raise their voice to stand up this situation brought a lump to my throat.
 I am not in a position to say 'cheer up', but I will enjoy sake every night; this is the least I can do.

Master brewers of Tohoku, Japanese sake lovers are awaiting your sake.

過去、幾度かの日本酒特集で、

素晴らしい東北の酒との出逢いがありました。

旨い米に名水、伝統の技、

さらに近年は革新的な若い造り手も加わって、

まさに新しい日本酒文化を切り開こうという

その勢いに、忽ちファンになった次第です。

悪夢のような震災を経て、今、

その蔵元さんたちが声を上げ始めたのを知り

胸がじんと熱くなりました。

「頑張ろう」などと偉そうなことを
言える立場ではありませんが、

せめても、今宵も東北の酒をいただきます。

このたびの東日本大震災においては、

東北地方の多くの蔵元さんにも被害が

及んでいるということをうかがって、

被害にあわれた蔵元さんの、いち早い

復旧・復興を心から願っています。
