At exactly 14.26 on 11th March 2011,
Japan was rocked by the great Tohoku Kanto earthquake.
The natural disaster caused tremendous damage throughout the region and affected a large number of Japanese sake breweries.
With this in mind, we would like to call the attention of Japanese sake lovers within and outside of Japan and make the following request: please drink sake from the devastated Tohoku areas.
Raising your cup will help bring courage and hope to the brewers who have been affected by this tragedy.
Japanese sake has a long, proud tradition as the country's oldest national drink and as the typical drink to enjoy with Japanese cuisine.
This heritage cannot now be allowed to come to an end in the Tohoku region.
The Save The Sake from Tohoku planning community pledges to support the sake breweries damaged by the earthquake in the area.
Long live Japanese sake!
~Welcome to the Save The Sake from Tohoku website~
Our aim is to support the breweries in the devastated area by delivering information about the revival of the industry and charity events such as sake tasting and sake-related courses.
